Major Order for Von Roll Elco Transformers

Au / Wädenswil, 2009-4-7

• Major order from a Middle East utility provider
• Energy sector as a stable and crisis-proof area of growth

Au / Wädenswil, Switzerland, April 07, 2009 – Von Roll, one of Switzerland's longest established industrial companies, has signed a major contract valued at $24.9 million to supply state-owned Israel Electric Corporation Ltd. (IEC) with high-performance transformers.

“This major new order from IEC demonstrates the great trust international utility providers have in the quality of our products. The order is furthermore proof that all signs point to long-term growth in the energy sector, an area of tremendous importance for us—and that despite the difficult economic environment we now face,” states Thomas Limberger, CEO and Chairman of the Board.

The acquisition of the Israel-based transformer manufacturer, Enerco Enterprises, which was concluded in September 2008, was a key strategic milestone for Von Roll. The Von Roll Transformers segment has expanded the value-added chain and expertise of the Swiss-based industrial group in one of the most promising and fastest growing markets, while also opening up other areas with attractive growth potential. Growth on the transformer market is driven by strong demand to upgrade and replace antiquated infrastructure, the push for greater efficiency on Western markets, and the need for new infrastructure in emerging markets.
